COSMOS distinguishes between:
- COSMOS Approved raw materials: non-organic ingredients that meet strict criteria for natural origin and sustainability
- COSMOS Certified raw materials: ingredients with certified organic content
- COSMOS Organic/Natural finished products: formulations that comply with defined thresholds for organic or natural content
