How you’ll make an impact…

  • Responsible for the overall relationship between Weidmann and suppliers within assigned categories. 
  • Negotiates beneficial outcomes with suppliers for materials and services. This includes discounts, payment terms, contracts, NDAs, INCO terms, warranty agreements, consignment, purchasing agreements, etc. 
  • Establish, negotiate and maintain appropriate inventory levels that balance business risk with investment.
  • Develops new supply sources for secondary supply or where current vendors are not meeting expectations.
  • Compare and evaluate supplier quotations and services to determine the most competitive solutions based upon a total cost of ownership approach. 
  • Develop and manage the implementation of commodity sourcing strategies.
  • Engage facilities to ensure all impacted sites have input and are aligned to the commodity strategy.
  • Establish and implement lean six sigma principles with suppliers as appropriate.
  • Identify, initiate, and execute continuous improvement opportunities within the company and the supply base founded upon key cost drivers. These improvements are to be documented
  • Lead teams in new supplier qualifications and corporate sourcing initiatives.
  • Improve and ensure supplier performance through cost, delivery, and quality requirements.
  • Initiate regular, periodic supplier meetings – either at the supplier, virtual, or in-house to review performance, new opportunities, cost reductions, etc. 
  • Records of these meetings to be documented and maintained. Examples meeting minutes, quotes, improvement project, etc. The frequency will vary based upon the critical nature of the supplier or materials supplied.
  • Assist Buyers, Planners and Production with difficult supplier management issues.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction teams representing the supply chain function.
  • Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with Local Laws.

Business Acumen & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Engineering, Production, Operations Management, Purchasing or other related field required.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in the following disciplines; supply chain management, strategic sourcing, general business management, demand or materials management, operational management utilizing ERP systems; SAP a plus. 
  • 2 years’ experience in negotiating contracts and legal agreements.
  • APICS or ISM certifications a plus.
  • Critical thinking, proactive communication, decision making, complex problem identification & resolution, project management, an expert in primary function(s), ability to lead, execute, motivate and develop skills among colleagues.
  • Experience with global markets; pulp, resin, packaging, and services are a plus. 
  • Ability to utilize competitive knowledge to determine business strategies and decisions. Internet utilization, electronic business to business experience, negotiation techniques, presentation skills. 
  • Ability to lead LSS continuous improvement projects to completion. LSS green belt certification a plus.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret contractual language.
  • Demonstrated leadership and history of driving change and implementing efficiencies.
  • Must take the initiative to find, research and discover improvement/savings opportunities across global spend. 
  • Deliver year-over-year cost reduction. 
  • Team player, experience in building effective cross-functional relationships with business partners.
  • Must be willing to travel locally and internationally 10%-30%.
  • Ability to work flexible hours on-site with the global team addressing urgent issues as needed.
  • Fluent in English language required
