How you’ll make an impact…
- Manage supplier performance metrics. For suppliers that do not meet required levels, issuing Supplier Corrective Action Reports or other performance improvement initiatives, and ensures these are being completed as planned.
- Develop and implement plans to improve the performance of business-critical suppliers, which may include leading efforts to resolve recurring supply chain issues involving quality and delivery.
- Lead teams in new supplier qualifications when a need has been identified. E.g. existing supplier replacement, low-cost sourcing, outsourcing opportunities, etc.
- Conduct on-site/remote supplier audits to ensure the quality and performance of delivered materials.
- Early Supplier Involvement. Coordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain Management to engage suppliers in design/process improvements in the concept phase of product development.
- Support in New Product Development teams in qualifying new sources of supply.
- This encompasses raw materials, components, and services.
- Conducts audits of existing or new sources as their products pertain to new designs.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
Business Acumen & Expertise
- BS Degree in Engineering, Technology, or equivalent required; Quality preferred.
- Fluent in English written and verbal.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in working with suppliers in a manufacturing environment.
- Specialized training in “lean manufacturing/lean enterprise/lean Six Sigma” concepts is a strong plus.
- Must be able to demonstrate aptitude in data-driven problem-solving techniques. Skilled in root cause and failure Analysis diagnosis.
- Must be able to analyze and present fact-based management reporting with recommendations.
- Must have a detailed understanding of international quality/testing standards (ISO, IEC, ASTM, TAPPI, CE, etc.)
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with internal customers. Must demonstrate tactfulness in dealing with suppliers.
- Critical thinking, decision making, complex problem solving, project management, ability to lead, motivate and develop skills among colleagues.
- This position requires domestic and international travel up to 50%.
- Certified auditor credentials are a plus.
- Must be able to uncover objective evidence.
